A true matrimony of art and fashion. I'm obsessed and ridiculously intrigued by those hands which grasp and cinch the fabric of those crazy/beautiful dresses. I usually stick to wearing black like the new yorker I am but after seeing these dresses, I just want to throw on something white and drape-y and pair my outfit with nude lips of course.

Yesss, it's that time of year again - my favorite holiday, Chinese New Year. So gong hay fat choy to all my fellow yellows! I hope you had awesome aZn food and bubble tea and celebrated with the fam and all that goodness. Think I'm going to sleep off my intense food coma now...

It's true, the school campus has officially turned into an ice-skating rink. Every surface appears to have frozen over leaving nothing but a glistening sheen of ice that, while pretty, makes for a frightful outdoor experience. And, as my friends already know, I am not what one would call a 'nature' kinda girl. On another note, I found this drawing I did way back when:

Beautiful clothes that I would love to rock if I wasn't currently living in what feels like one of the coldest places ever at the moment. Why does snow exist, really? I mean, I think it goes against nature to be so criminally cold. Anyways, back to my post..I'm loving the crisp, clean, and structured folds of the last dress which echoes the architecture behind her. Anyone else knows where these editorials came from? Found them rejected in my iPhoto and thought they needed/deserved someone to (re)appreciate them..

Some of my last shots of Spain...I know, it's been a long time comin'. I'm already missing the vino tintos, the hours leisurely spent strolling the galleries and museum, and of course, the tapas which were to die for. 

salamanca lovin'

Some scenic and not so scenic shots of Salamanca and the crispest blue skies I've ever seen. I have to admit though that I have this weird affinity for road trips/being on the road. Growing up in the city, cars and driving always seemed soo...foreign and like some all-american rite of passage or whatever. I know, weird. Thing is, I actually get car sick most of the time, yet as we were driving along the countryside of Salamanca en route to Avila, not a wave of nausea seized me. But this was probably because I wasn't the one driving. I guess being vehical-inept has its privileges...like being a total camwhore in the backseat and taking thousands of pictures like the big tourist I am.

artist profile | hung liu

I'm not over-exaggerating when I say that when I saw these works of art by Chinese artist, Hung Liu, they literally took my breath away. I think I repeated "Oh my god, these are so beautiful" like a total idiot a thousand times. My pictures seriously do not do justice to the size, complexity, texture and overall beauty of these artworks. They're incredibly rich in detail and color and in my opinion, the artist has definitely captured the painful memories of China's past within her drippy, layered and lush linseed oil brushstrokes. There's something traditional yet modern within her works and when you look at each painting, it's like staring up close at the petals of a flower - rich and luminous at first, you try to take in all the details, then you're afraid its brightness, its nuances, will fade so you try your best to memorize and absorb as much as you can. Also, how awesome are those fire engine red staircases? Never realized how desperately I needed those in my life.
