sofia coppola x louis vuitton

I don't think I'll ever get over Sofia Coppola's collection for Louis Vuitton. First of all, Sofia = epitome of cool. Total girl crush. Forget Alexa Chung and all those other bright, young, twenty-something year olds (minus Vanessa Traina of course cause she is the fashion god of everything awesome/chic/stylish). But I mean when your best friend is fashion juggernaut slash genius Marc Jacobs, your coolness is practically cemented, right? To some, well actually most, these bags/clutches have a style that is considered "understated", bordering on plain, but it's beauty (and it's luxury) lies in its very simplicity and functionality. The neutral colors, which aren't necessarily always black, it's travel-friendly size, it's over the shoulder messenger bag strap, it's classic structured shape makes it one of the most perfect bags ever. I also love that when you look at it, it doesn't automatically scream "DESIGNER!" and I think that's what fashion means to me. Yes, Coppola's done it again. And don't even get me started on Virgin Suicides..

worse than you think

So you may be thinking that this post is reeeally different/random from my usual travel-centric posts but the reason why I actually started this blog is because I love fashion. And while I absolutely love women's fashion, I'm doubly impressed when I come across male editorials that I appreciate, both stylistically and photographically. Above are a few shots taken by Korean photographer Kim Hyeon-seong. There's a sense of mystery within these photos, and I definitely think it captures the title for the series. It's also what I like best in clothes; simple, sparse, sexy, and slightly deconstructed.

These last two shots are ads for 'ALO' eyewear for 'OhBoy!', a South Korean magazine. I love the clean yet slightly nerdy but oddly edgy styling and the unexpected combination of denim and corduroy (or is that felt?!).

photo diary: madrid, spain part II

The YSL exhibition in Madrid, which still managed to take my breath away again even though I've already seen it once before in Montreal, some new and some centuries old art works in sophia reina & museo thyssen, and random architecture that I saw whilst exploring.

photo diary: madrid, spain part I

A few shots of my first couple of days in Madrid, Spain. I went for about a week and did a road trip down to neighboring cities Segovia, Salamanca and Avila. It was absolutely freeezing there. Anyways, above are shots of me at plaza mayor, catedral de la mudena, plaza de la villa, templo de debod, and many more streets in between with my trusty tour guide in the second to last picture above! There are many more pictures to come!
